Chain Drive Mystery Racer (upd. 1904 Brillie-Schneider)

Job van Huizen was kind enough to upload these photos and ads the question: "For some time now I'm trying to find the make of this car. It took part at the Circuit des Ardennes in 2008, but is not on the list of participants. It has a French license plate. There are a fair number of Edwardian chain drive racing cars in existence. Could it be American, Italian, German, French? Famous or Fantasy?"

this car is definitivelly a Brillé Scheider
I am the owner, please find the story below:

BRILLIE SCHNEIDER SBS 45.7 MO4 , 6.798 litres ( course 1904)

This car entered the rally 3 year ago as a Chenard Walker. I did talk to the owner that time. The car was a self build project long times ago.

The car is a Gladiator racing model from around 1907/1908. Compare the radiator shape with that of the 1907 Gladiator double phaeton in the Mulhouse museum.

hello

this car can`nt be a Brillie Schneider of about 1904. When The CGO ( compagnie des generale omnibus) from Paris decided to turn from horse drawn busses to mechanical, they first bought a serpolett steamer in 19o5, and at the end of the year, after a contest, they gave order to armament company Scneider to build a bus to the desight of Brillie. their first bus appeared at the beginning of 19o6.As far as I know, busses had been built up to the start of WWI, an original of 1911 still exists, and the 19o6 double deck was reconstructed in the early 196o`s. A closer look to the car indicates, that it`s not built on a bus.chassis. the radiator could be a chenard& walker or a gladiator from abpout 19o8. so maybe the car is a hybrid, built around a bus-engine from a 19o6 or later brillie schneider on a 19o4 or later chassis, or anything else, but not a brillie-schneider, for they never build a non comercial car.

This car has been investigated before elsewhere with no luck The entry list for that event was on the net but there were no details for this car. Maybe it is a modern confection of older parts? Hopefully her owner will respond.

Surely it is not Italian, definitely not Fiat. I will do more research, but for now I put my money on it being American.
