During the Vintage Sports-Car Club’s Prescott Hillclimb weekend, Silverstone Auctions  presents an entirely new auction to our sales calendar. “The Dawn of Motoring Auction will feature select items of memorabilia and pre-war motor cars celebrating the earliest years of engineering development through to stunning Art Deco styling of the 1930s and 40s” the auctioneer tells us. And to celebrate this new auction, there will be a FREE champagne reception on Friday the 5th from 2pm, before the auction start at 3pm! But what is on offer in The Dawn of Motoring Auction?

1931 Bentley 8-litre Tourer

One of the lots you really can't miss is this magnificent Bentley. The 8-litre Bentley was delivered new to the Duke of Leinster. There is a copy of the original Bill of Sale in the file dated 8th July 1931 with the car registered as GP 1999 and the purchaser listed as ‘The Duke of Leinster, Dukes Hotel, St James’ Street, W1’. This car with matching numbers is being offered after 35 years, long term ownership, and has been extensively rallied by its late owner. What would be the next event you would like to participate in with this Bentley?

1923 Rolls-Royce 20hp Landaulette Coachwork by Hooper

Another vintage thoroughbred offered in the same auction is this splendid red Rolls-Royce Landaulette. Built by Hooper in 1923, the Rolls-Royce is accompanied by large files of correspondence, invoices, service records and history details. The photos show the excellent condition of this 20hp — looking forward to her 100th birthday.

1936 Lagonda LG45 Tourer

“Gloss Black with a depth of shine that is quite remarkable” — this 1936 Lagonda with 4½-litre Meadows engine should not be missed from the list of British beauties. From the auction blurb:” The interior has been superbly retrimmed in a glorious Apple Green and displays a level of craftsmanship rarely seen with not a detail missed. The engine bay can only be described as immaculate and every other mechanical area that’s visible has been thoughtfully presented, not over-restored but just the way you would hope to find it. We could write further chapters about this impressive motor car but suggest that the best way to assess this beautiful and charismatic Lagonda is simply to come along and view it. With only 25 ever built and far fewer remaining, it may be your only chance to see one.”
