the story behind 'BIL aktie BOL' (UPDATE: not Finnish but Swedish)

An intriguing title, but  translated from Finnish it just means plain ‘Car Company Incorporated’. However the image itself looks more like anti-driving propaganda with the woman as an object instead as a person. The 1907 advertising poster was made by Akseli Gallen-Kallela and is in a new book by Norman Clark. He explains: “Certainly the graphic is almost demented. It is about the Kalevala folk story of the snatching of Kyllikki, although transformed: the sledge becomes a red car and Lemminkäinen -the hero- is a besuited motor-car fanatic. The link to Mosaic Books is no longer working, so further details regarding the author's views of this poster is regrettably not available on the net. Fortunately the facts in the previous comment (#3) are correct. There is, however, quite widespread misinformation regarding the origin of this fine piece of art. Please consider the findings of my in-depth research article on the orgins of this poster by following the attached link to my Bil-Bol web page. Hopefully the continued circulation of "facts" proved unfounded could be at least somewhat reduced.

This is a well-known piece of art in Finland. It was ordered from the (already famous) artist in 1907 by the auto importer Oy Nikolajeff Ab which had started its operation in 1905. The picture here shows it all - nothing is missing. This picture appears e.g. in a current series of Finnish postage stamps commemorating works of Akseli Gallen-Kallela.

It sure is swedish, meaning The Car Corporation Ltd, but the picture seems to have been cut down somewhat. The full company name should be BILaktieBOLAGET. The missing strip is probably just flames, though.

I think you misunderstood 'BIL aktie BOL'
It is pure Swedish and stands for Car Corporation. In Finnish it should be Auto osake Yhtiö or something similar.
At that time it was usual to use Swedish and Finnish in the advertising.
