Bignan back where it belongs: the road ! (UPDATE: the other Bignan...)

Last weekend prewar Belgium was in awe over the the cyclecar weekend organised by Marc Hendrix. We don't want to loose ourselves in a sea of words so send you straight to the gallery of Le Cyclecariste Belge. One of the new 'faces' was the fully unrestored Bignan. Enjoy the midtwenties dashboard ergonomics and the patinated interior. Marc wrote us:"The car is in exceptional untouched condition. Only 539 Bignan AL are supposed to have been built. All were based on Salmson AL components like chassis, engine, brakes etc... (we think the designers had a subcompact French Rolls + Hispano in mind when they made the radiator & badge). Marc is trying to trace the history of the car from before the time it was displayed in Clères Museum in France. Research based on the old plate "99 80 G-4" so far did not produce anything. The owner plate name on the dashboard, "Viot-Berthelot" négociant at Château Gontier /Mayenne, could produce new leads. Who can tell Marc more about it?? [email protected]. The last - and only other - Bignan we saw was the one offered for sale by CaveCreekClassics years back. We should ask Ed 'CaveCreek' Fallon what happened to the other one. Maybe the two can start a small Bignan Club... :-).
Update sent to us by Mark Lizewski, Curator of the JWR Museum in Pennsylvania, US: "We have the ex Ed Fallon Bignan in our collection, and it is currently being repainted to match our 1929 UNIC truck in "Ecurie Bignan" livery. The idea is to display both together as a period race team."
