At the start of the Mille Miglia (UPDATE: results)

Our reader Bogdan Coconoiu, who lives in Romania, went to Brescia for the start of Mille Miglia. And with a reason as he wanted to cheer on the very first Romanian team that takes part: Jörg Eisenbach and Florian Fendt with their 1951 Siata. But of course he sent us several other pictures, like this great shot of some of the wheels of the BMW Classic racing team. From left to right they are a 1937 BMW 328 Berlin Rome Touring Roadster; the 1940 BMW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster and the 1939 BMW 328 Touring Coupé. Bogdan also captured the start of the first team in the rally: Leonhard Birnbaum and Ferdinando Beccalli in their 1930 OM 665 SS. At the village of Sansepolcro the 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport driven by Luciano Viaro was in first place, which comes as no surprise as he won the 2005 as well as the last two editions of the Mille Miglia with the same car. Will he win a fourth time? We‘ll know tonight at the finish. (photos Bogdan Coconoiu and BMW)
