Two Edwardian Russian Mysteries (update: 2 x 1914 Benz)

Frequent contributor Ivan Barentsev -russian carjournalist - is sharing these two photos of unidentified cars in Russia, pictured around 1916. He is eager to learn what they are. Both cars seem to be in use as army officers transport. The first - judging by the exotic attire of the bystanders - must have been taken in the eastern part of Russia. Kazachstan possibly. The car itself is a big tourer with rounded radiator, slightly similar to the second mighty car. About anything French, German and US made car was available to the man who had the money, just like today. So we will really need your help to pinpoint the make of both cars.

Ariejan Bos was right, it's Benz 75PS on the first photo. But the date of earlier post is October 18, 2012 http://www.prewarcar.com/prewar-my-prewarcar/show-a-pre-war-mystery/pictures-from-joe-puleo--018579.html#comments

For sure not a Abadal(one survivor at the museum of Caramulo Pt.or a Imperia Abadal. Those cars have a radiator in "coupe vent"and a beautifull badge.

Presumably I was wrong regarding the car on the brown photo. I already had some doubts because of the non-Benz like spring horns and the low side-hinge of the bonnet, and indeed some research shows that this car could well be a 1914 Opel. Opel used a similar radiator-shape in 1914 on a racing car (see the Allg. Automobil Zeitung of April 12th, 1914), but on a regular car I never saw it before. Moreover the shape of the spring horns fits the Opel better and finally the radiator filler cap is exactly Opel!
Superficially there may be some resemblance with the (Impéria-)Abadal, but looking at details like bonnet and radiator shape, I see too many differences.

Cars on the photos are not similar to Abadal. Look at the top of the grille! It's more roundish than Abadal http://www.mojeauto.sk/wp-content/gallery/abadal/abadal_1914_02.jpg

So what could it be?

My father is 100% shure that it is a abadal, (pre imperia) It definetly looks like a imperia abadal.

On the grey photo we see a big 1914 75PS Benz, comparable with the Benz on an earlier post on PreWarCar (October 12, 2012). The brown photo most probably also shows a circa 1914 Benz, but a slightly smaller model, possibly the 40PS. On the latter photo the ususal side lights of the car are missing, but I have the impression that you can still see where they were once mounted on the body.

I suggest Stoewer, the cars have a typical German body of the era and the radiator looks Stoewer.

Mr Barentsev's car may be an Abadal, an example of which may be found on pages 72 to 75 of Ernest Schmid d'Andres book on Hispano-Suiza. Abadal had a relationship with Hispano-Suiza, and I seem to recall that Hispano was also connected to at least one model of Russo-Baltique.
As I am currently restoring a 1914 Hispano, I would like to hear more about this car.
