And now for something completely different…

Originally we were going to write about the BMW 328 Mille Miglia "Bügelfalte“ that will be the star of RM’s auction at Monaco this weekend. However, since this BMW has already been covered by so many other magazines we decided to show you something completely different… If you’re going to the Riviera you need a boat, don’t you? And what better way to travel by water then in this Hispano-Suiza Engined Racing Hydroplane? It’s called Batboat III and no, it’s not the Boy Wonder’s personal transport. The “Batboat” motorboats were designed by John Montague Batting between 1912 and 1914. This one was especially built for racing. It's second owner bought it in the early 1930s and mildly modified it during a long family ownership well into the 1980s. Since then it has been restored and is now powered by a water-cooled Hispano-Suiza V8 aero-engine. That should put all those big luxurious, but oh so slow yachts way behind you! Go see it at RM’s “Sporting Classics of Monaco” to be held on May 1st at the Grimaldi forum.
