A Rare Sical

Our earlier quiz about the Citroën Rosalie with coachwork by SICAL, prompted Citroën-connoisseur Gilbert Warning to tell us that this coachbuilder did work for Citroën in earlier days as well: “Before the Rosalie, Citroën made also the C6 which stood for the “six cylindre”. 45.692 chassis were made. In 1932 they produced only 2800 chassis of the C6G MFP, which was the first chassis with the “moteur flottant” (MFP) meaning that the engine was mounted on rubber blocks in the chassis to absorb the vibrations. Of these 2800 only a few had a coachbuilder other than the Citroën factory. One of these coachbuilders was SICAL (Societé Industrielle de Carrosserie de Levallois) and this C6G shown here is as far as we know the only C6G MFP SICAL running in Europe. We do know of two others that are being restored, but not yet finished. This car, with 6 louvre doors in the bonnet, is also mentioned in the 'C4–C6' Citroën book of Fabien Sabatés on page 227.”
