A possible NAG Mystery (Upd. Fafnir ???)

Another picture from the family albums. This one comes from Volker Wissemann, who writes: "The photo was taken in Lower Saxony, Germany in Hameln and shows the grandpa of my wife sitting in his first car with his girlfriend (and later wife). In the back his future mother-in-law supervising correct behavior! Having looked through huge amounts of literature I was nevertheless not successful in identifying the car, might it be a NAG?" We think Volker might be correct, but leave it to more experienced car connoisseurs to tell us about the year.

I doubt it is a Fafnir. The top of the Fafnir radiator of the era was not curved towards the front, as this one seems to be from what little is visible. The Fafnir radiatior was flat longitudinally. The Fafnir also had three quarter eliptic springs at the rear, which this car appears to lack, although they may be obscured by the wheel.

The Norddeutsche automobilwerke (N.A.W.)in Hameln was not only responsible for the Colibri and Selve but also for the Sperber which came from the same manufacturer made from 1911 till 1919.

Images of early German vehicles are scarce, so I can only give a suggestion and have to look (or wait) for further evidence. For the Colibri/NAW/Selve-option I do not find much support in my archive. A better candidate at the moment seems to me a 1914 Fafnir.

Hello, the car on the picture seems to be from before WWI.During that time NAG used to have circular type radiators so I don´t think it´s a NAG.But the city of Hameln was home of the "Selve" and their predecessor "NAF" factory,so it is probably one of those.
