A Living Museum

Not only this charming lady was present at last week’s opening of the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum ( Alaska), also our most Northern correspondent, ‘Banjo’ Bob Apalsch. Bob reports that it’s the new Museum’s mission to show important developments in early American automotive history with emphasis on the heritage of the automobile during Alaska’s early territorial days. At this moment there are 64 automobiles, of which some fifty are on display. The collection shows a lot of variety. There’s of course the beautiful 1912 Rauch & Lang of the main picture, but also this unrestored Hudson, a 1935 Offenhauser Midget Racer and a 1933 Auburn Boattail Speedster. The objective is to make it a “living museum” in which most of the cars are in full working order and will be driven regularly. So when you're planning an Alaska weekend spin, be sure to stop at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum.
