A little bit like a jigsaw puzzle with some missing pieces

Imagine… Imagine how wonderful it would be to create your own pre-war car (from scratch). With only a few original bits and bobs. A little bit like a jigsaw puzzle with some missing pieces. You can make it either as close to the original as possible. Or you can give the car your own twist, maybe the super-fast special you always dreamed of. On Saturday the 20th of October 2018 Richard Edmonds will auction various pre-wars. Two of them, we think we can call them projects.

The first one is this 1935 Morris 6-cylinder tourer, estimated between £500 and £1,000. Only little is known about the history of this Morris and does need some work to it. A good fun but a time-consuming project. But the car has already reg. no. CPE 123, which is a start. The chassis (no. 35/TS/47393) comes with a V5 engine (no. 5718) and very handy a lubrication chart and an operation manual. It is time to show your restoration skills!

The second lot, a 1922 Crossley 25/30 4.6 Litre Chassis, comes with more parts! This is one of the main reasons this chassis is estimated between £3,000 and £5,000. But will this one also be the first one on the road…? It all depends on the new owner of this Crossey 25/30. One of about 600 examples made between 1919 and 1925. Most of them were fitted with a V-shaped radiator and a 4-cylinder 4.6 litre engine (no. 16354) unit in two cast iron blocks. Not much is known about the history of this Crossley chassis, which was recently discovered in a garage close to Chippenham. There are only some import and shipping documents that tell us it was imported from Australia in 1982. Will, there one day be a car driving around in Australia with this chassis? We are very curious to know the answer to this question.

If you do not have the time or do not want to create time in your busy schedule, there are more pre-war cars which will be auctioned by Richard Edmonds and definitely have a lot less work to get them road worthy. Which is, of course, a term which can be interpreted in many ways. But look for instance at this 1924 Lancia Lambda Series III. Or what do you think of this lovely 1931 Austin 7 Swallow? See all other lots here.
