A good start of the European car show season with the Interclassics Maastricht show

The European show season started last week with the Interclassics show in Maastricht. Just like the years before, we had a great week. One of the things we were curious about is how the market is at the moment. We are happy to see that many cars (especially in the higher pricing regions) were sold by the end of the week. Something else we noticed is that the general interest from the public for the old cars was huge.

The highlight of the show for many was the ode to Lancia. Earlier we had a preview about 'La Grandezza della Lancia’ but still were surprised by the great way of presentation. From the impressive Astura to the stunning, extra long Lambda that participated in last years MM, it was clear why there are so many Lancisti.

Like most shows, the 'modern' cars had the overhand and especially the new 'classics' (modern Ferarri's/ Mercedes) were something we personally are not very pleased with but well, that is how the market is and we need to be happy with that what we see in the PreWar region.

The winner of the PreWar class was an absolutely fantastic Citroen. Yes indeed, a Citroen was the best PreWar! Presented by Fine Automobiles, this 1921 Citroen B2 Sport 'Caddy' is in a wonderful original condition. Designed by Labourdette this car would fit well in both a car as an art collection.

Another fabulous looking car was the MG F-Type Magna Salonette that was for sale at ClassicPark. With the seats almost on the rear axle, the looks are great and with its six-cylinder, we are sure a new owner will drive it soon.

A car that was sold quickly was the little Fiat 501 racer. Plenty of patina but not as much as the Amilcar that was on the stand of PreWarCar.com. The Weyman bodied Type-M Amilcar attracted many visitors and got the crowd enthusiastic, especially when they heard the car was actually in running condition. We had the pleasure of hosting the New Years reception of the Dutch Cyclecar club and besides that, we met many people who are just as enthusiastic about old cars as we are.

Next year the Interclassics Maastricht show will be held from the 16th till 19th of January 2020 and we can highly recommend going there.
