A Giza Tourist Mystery (update: Panhard & Levassor )

Mahmoud Ezzeldin sends this beautiful photo showing a mystery Laundaulet making a tourist photo stop near the pyramids of Giza (or Gizeh). More precise, it looks like it is the north face of the Great Pyramid (compare the main entrance as shown on G-Earth). From the shadows we can deduct this must be late afternoon.
Of course all this doesn't help to identify the motorcar in the picture. The flat design bonnet suggests Panhard-Levassor.  The elegant coachwork is showing good resemblance with the architecture by Barker as shown on this more recently pictured 1911 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Up to you to fill in the gaps. Have a great week.

I lived in Cairo for 4 years in the early 1960s. Of course we visited the pyramids at Gizeh many times, including climbing to the top.
For this you needed an experienced guide, because those stones are so tall that you need to follow a special track. Each year the guides had their own contest who can reach the top fastest. The little figure in the photo on the edge (approx, above the windscreen) reminded me of all this. Happy days. Hans

ABOUT THE PYRAMID, most people think the "GREAT" one is in the center with the obvious limestone cap intact. NOT TRUE.
That one was by the son of the "great" one, and only looks taller because it was set on a 36 foot platform.

We see indeed Milton and Catherine Hershey in a Panhard & Levassor. I've filed the date of the photo as April 1913, but the car is probably one or two years older.

I think that's a Panhard Levasssor as well. A similar photo has been on other internet forums, that's Milton Hershey sitting on the donkey/horse.
