When an automobile has been in one family as long as this one, there’s bound to be some good stories attached to it. This 1934 Hotchkiss 617 Cabriolet was bought in 1945 by the owners father as a present to himself for surviving the war. When he married not long after, he and his wife took the Hotchkiss on a honeymoon trip to the Italian Riviera, although we suspect the main pic was taken in France somewhere along the route. Today the Hotchkiss looks a bit worse for wear, but seems perfectly restorable. Perhaps a future honeymoon project ;-)
If so, check lot 112 of Coys Auction on May 14th, The Spirit of Motoring at Ascot. What we don’t know is if the big spotlight is still with the car. Let’s hope it has also survived.
