A Concours Invitation for Unrestored, Well-preserved Cars

During the 2016 Concours d'Elegance Paleis Het Loo a new category will be on display, judged and awarded: Unrestored Pre-1940 Automobiles which are still usable and close or very close to the condition they had when they left the factory. A special award for the Best of Unrestored will be provided by PreWarCar-PostWarClassic. The above shown Regal Underslung has lost its paint in the course of 104 years but is otherwise nearly untouched. It is not the intention of the organisers to show a collection of wrecks, so if you have a 'mint and boxed' and still drivable motorcar built prior to 1940 you are most welcome to propose your vehicle for participation. The final selection will be decided by the organisers.

Owners of very original motorcars who like to showcase their car in this new category should address PreWarCar by e-mail with two photos and a very short description (send to [email protected]) before May 28th. Selected cars will be notified before June 4th.  Candidates already suggested are an Alvis Speed 25, Bugatti Type 37, an edwardian FIAT Tipo 5, a Regal Underslung, a REO Roadster and a SS I Jaguar.

Costs of participation are courtesy PreWarCar/Concours Paleis Het Loo. Cost for transport, insurance, hotel etc. are for the participant. Send your application to [email protected]. We are truly looking forward to see candidates coming in!

Mint and boxed? Those are nice cars but they have no life or history. Many years ago I heard a saying Which has stayed with me,'The fine patina of care and ware'. Decay due to in proper care and repair counted for nothing.

Isn't this class what we now refer to as "Preserved", ie., running and driving, almost daily drivers, but with "NO RESTO-MODS". ?
Just the normal maintenance items, to keep it running ?
