Beautifully presented and full of period charm; the engine and gearbox have been replaced with a later Series E unit incorporating the desirable four-speed gearbox; particularly attractive interior which presents well and adds greatly to the car's overall appeal; a highly usable pre-war convertible
Few pre-war cars offer such charming and affordable open-top motoring as the Morris Eight Tourer. With its elegant styling, simple mechanicals and delightful period character, the Morris Eight remains one of the most appealing ways to enjoy vintage motoring, equally at home on local runs, club events and summer touring.
First registered in May 1936, this attractive Morris Eight Tourer is finished in a classic red and black colour scheme which suits the car's flowing pre-war lines beautifully. Complementing the exterior is a particularly attractive interior which presents well and adds greatly to the car's overall appeal.
Showing just 5,648 miles on the odometer, the Morris has benefited from recent mechanical attention. The vendor advises that both the engine and gearbox have been replaced with a later Series E unit incorporating the desirable four-speed gearbox, a sensible upgrade that should improve usability on modern roads.
More recently, a new cylinder head gasket has been fitted, supported by an invoice totalling £3,036.59. The vendor advises that, following this work, the cylinder head nuts should be checked and tightened after each run as part of the bedding-in process for the next 500 miles. Prospective purchasers should also note that, as a consequence of fitting the later four-speed gearbox, the speedometer no longer indicates the correct road speed.
The Morris has been starting readily on the button during its time with us for photography and video purposes, providing a reassuring indication of its general condition and usability.
Accompanying the car is a history file including the current V5C and a folder of invoices documenting expenditure and maintenance over the years.
Beautifully presented and full of period charm, this Morris Eight Tourer offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire a highly usable pre-war convertible. Combining attractive looks, recent mechanical work and the simple pleasures of open-air motoring, it represents a delightful slice of British motoring history.
