1938 GMC Panel Van waiting for better times in Zimbabwe (update: 1940 )
This 1938 GMC Panel Van is patiently awaiting rescue in Zimbabwe and hopefully given a new lease of live. As can be seen from the photographs, it still has its original engine fitted, complete with carburettor and filter. The back axle is missing and probably has been used to build a donkey cart. Still a favourate means of transport in that country. The vehicle's exact location is 359 kilometers from the country's capital city, Harare, although it would be helpful to know in which direction...

Thank you Kit Foster for dating the Van correctly as a 1940 model. As often before, it just goes to show that you cannot trust Google pictures to come up with the correct answer all the time. When I dated the Van about 2 months ago, I got pictures of several 1940 model pickup trucks marked (as they still are now)as 1938 models and assumed that that was the correct year for the Van. Now I see that I have erred. There are now even several pictures of a 1938 Van, which I could not find before. Believe me, I did search everywhere, as I hate getting the answers wrong.

The grille and instrument panel of this truck indicate it's a 1940 model.
