1879 Italian steam carriage ready for the 2016 steamer season!

We know there is a strong steamer following with our visitors, so we we thought this fine two cylinder FWD Italian 'car' deserves your full attention.

Owner Davide reports: "This is my 1879 Trinci steam carriage built in Pistoia, Tuscany. It has a two cylinder engine with incline slide valves and Stephenson linkcage for the reverse. It is chain driven to the front wheel and it steers with the rear wheels. The B&W photos were taken in 1959 in Montespertoli town fair near Florence. Hope to finish the restoration and have it ready to roll under own steam for the 2016 show season."

Hi Barry,
thank you for your message. There will be no problem to post those photos on the Steam Car Club of Great Britain magazine. Also if you need more info on the engine and better photo resolution I can send them to you. I just don't know how to contact you by e.mail. All the best
hello Davide,
what a nice vehicle... so unusual and really spectacular.
I hope you will keep the old paint and patina except all technical parts will be restored for "save driving".
Good luck !
Hi Michael, thank you for your message! Unfortunately i'm not able to keep the original colors due to the photo i posted is of 1985. In those years the engine was painted by the previous owner thinking in that way he would preserve better the vehicle. Now, when I bougth it i tried to remove that painting but what i have found under that coat of new paint was not like the photo of 1985.I used the original colors I found on the boiler and carriage chassis to make them new and it will be painted again in the same way it was painted in the XIX century. In a mounth or soo I will post photos of the restoration. The only parts that have original paintings are the wooden wheels. That green is the original one and I have just clean it from dirt and dust. :-)
Thanks, all the best
Davide

Thanks for posting the photos of the steam trycicle. I forgot to write the steam carriage came with a special passenger carriage attached to it. It is not the one shown in the vintage photo of the Montespertoli town fair. That one was made especially for the event. The passenger carriage is now under restoration. :-)
All the best
Davide
